USA Invests USD 80 M in Military Bases Infrastructure in Bulgaria

The United States is going to allocate about USD 80 M for the maintenance of the infrastructure of its military bases in Bulgaria.
The news was announced by the Chair of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Bulgarian Parliament and former Foreign Minister Solomon Pasi, who is accompanying a delegation of US congressmen inspecting the American military facilities in Bulgaria.
The delegation consists of two members of the US House of Representatives - the Democrat Lauretta Sanchez from California and the Republican Joe Wilson from South Carolina, who are both members of the House Armed Services Committee. Wilson is also the Co-Chair of the Congressional Bulgaria Caucus.
The third member of the US delegation is the non-voting Delegate to the House of Representatives from Guam Madeleine Bordallo.
On Wednesday the US congressmen took part in a conference on the utilization of old army munitions in the Bulgarian Black Sea resort of Pomorie.
The delegation also visited the military base at Novo Selo in the Sliven District in southeast Bulgaria, which is used jointly by the Bulgarian and the US armies. Representative Joe Wilson praised base for its good and orderly condition.
He confirmed that the United States was going to allocate equipment and experts for the utilization of the unnecessary and dangerous munitions of the Bulgarian Army.
According to Pasi, the US Army also plans built a residential complex close to the city of Sliven where its rangers stationed in Bulgaria would reside.
